Peering Policies and Guidelines
In order to peer, members MUST fulfill these conditions set forth in the Memorandum of Understanding that: -
- Legal entity incorporated in Malaysia
- Network Service Provider (NSP) License holder under CMA 1998 but excluding those whose primary business is the hosting of content, (including but not limited to hosting corporate websites, dedicated server hosting, shared hosting or offshore hosting).
- Have an Autonomous System (AS) Number, which is issued to Malaysian entities by the regional AS assigning authority for networks in Malaysia.
MYIX supports an open policy of interconnection with all licenced domestic Internet Service Providers in Malaysia. MYIX currently operates in a 10 Gbps ring network over 3 locations in Kuala Lumpur. The following guidelines represent those qualities required in a peer.
- Peers must maintain a fully staffed Network Operations Center that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week reachable via email and telephone.
- Peers must provide the means by which to escalate and resolve network emergencies.
- Peers must be responsive to dealing with unsolicited email, denial of service attacks and other security concerns.
- Peers must provide sufficient capacity to handle traffic exchanged
- Peers should register and maintain proper route objects in the RADB or mirrored IRR.
- Peers must advertise consistent route announcements at all locations where an interconnection is established.
